POLYURETHANE FOAM INSULATION - Polyurethane foam insulation has been available for over 30 years and unlike any other type of insulation product on the market today, foam has the broadest application capabilities. Standard applications include, but are not limited to: Roofing; Metal buildingwalls/ceilings; Storage Tanks; Freezers/Coolers; Controlled Atmosphere Storage Facilities (for crops); Glass Windows; Skylights; Transite panels and Flotation. Additional uses are limited only by your imagination. There are two types of polyurethane foam; Closed cell and Open cell RIBCO, Inc. installs only "Closed Cell" foam because it has the highest "R-Value" of any insulation available today, (R-7 per in), it inhibits water absorption, and due to it's high compressive strength, it can also help to strengthen a building structure. Most often a nominal 2lb density foam is used on the interior of a building for insulation purposes. It can be applied equally effective on either a horizontal or vertical surface. All foam sprayed to surfaces on the building interior require a "Thermal (Fire) Barrier" coating applied to provide a 15 Minute Fire Protection requirement set by New York Building Codes. There are three types of Thermal Barriers available: Cement or Cellulose based or Intumescent Coatings. RIBCO is also certified to install these specialized protective coatings. Foam will adhere to most common construction surfaces including: Metal; Concrete; Wood; Glass; Plaster; Fiberglass panels, Transite, etc., making it the ideal insulation product for use in new or existing construction. Polyurethane foam is considered a "GREEN" building material by the U.S. Green Buildings Council, and the new building criteria for "points/credits" as required by LEEDS. |
